Deconstruct & Reconstruct a garment of your choice.

For this brief we were asked to bring in a garment of our choice and deconstruct it and reconstruct it. We could change its purpose  or adapt it. I chose a hooded mens short sleeved shirt. I have displayed the stages of making and the end result.

Review of Deconstructed Garment

We brought in a garment to deconstruct and reconstruct. I decided to choose a shirt because I feel it had a lot of potential rather than a skirt. At first I felt a bit lost and couldn't think of much to do but then I got inspiration from Pinterest. I had so many ideas so I mixed a few together making my shirt into a new age club theme for men to show off the best parts of the body like the collar bones and shoulder blades while still leaving the rest to the imagination. I turned the hood into a collar to give it more of a smart military theme. And removed the short sleeves and replaced them with tights so it extenuated the arm muscles. I feel I was quite limited with the tights after that because they were so tight and small. But the holes I cut in the shirt had a lot of potential and could easily be patched up with various fabrics.
